Maddon, Daniels win honors PDF Print E-mail
Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon and Jon Daniels, general manager of the Texas Rangers, have been named Major League manager of the Year and Major League Executive of the Year in voting by the Boston Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Maddon and Daniels will both be honored at the chapter's 73rd annual awards dinner at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Westin Copley Hotel in Boston.

This is the second time in the last four seasons Maddon has won Manager of the Year honors. In 2011, he led the Rays to a playoff berth after they had at one point fallen nine games out of the Wild Card lead. Daniels put together a Rangers roster that has won back-to-back American League pennants after the franchise went from 1961 through 2009 without ever having appeared in the World Series.
